It’s time to transition the garden again as some of my plants are slowly letting go and others are eager to grow. With the sharp fluctuations in temperature and a coordinated attack between caterpillars and aphids, my chinese broccoli and mesclun reached the end of their useful life. I harvested the final batch of both, which frees up some space for transplants next weekend.

My watermelon radish also started bolting, but I cut off all of the flower stalks hoping it’ll make the radishes grow instead. It’s probably a lost cause, but I’ll try for another few weeks. My french breakfast radishes on the other hand, are doing well. I’m trying not to jinx it, but it is looking to be a really pretty crop. My string beans stopped producing flowers and my peas are getting really crispy on the edges. My tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers and basil are thriving though…
