A NO-DIG WATER GARDEN FOR YOUR DECK OR PATIO

Everyone enjoys a water feature but you may not have the energy to dig a pond or think you don’t have enough room for a fountain on your deck or patio. Actually, if you have just a 2’ X 2’ footprint, you do! Here’s how:

  1. Decide if you want just a water feature or if you’d like to add plants, fish and/or snails.
  2. Choose your location and determine the amount of sun you get each day. You’ll want to choose plants that will thrive in your combo of sun-shade. Most water plants need at least 6 hours of sun a day to bloom. Approximately 40% of the pond surface should remain open and free of plant cover.
  3. Determine how big a container best suits your space. You can buy designer containers with built in shelves but I found them pretty pricey…
