Yu Garden is a Chinese classical garden located beside the City God Temple in the northeast of the Old City of Shanghai. It is a private garden during the Ming Dynasty, built in 1559.
One cannot imagine such a tranquil spot in the middle of the chaotic streets of Shanghai.
However, the garden provides a peaceful stroll opportunity, in case you feel the need to escape the noisy streets of Shanghai.
I would recommend visiting the gardens at a non-peak time, especially if you want photographs that make the place look peaceful, or just a quite relaxing walk. There are a lot of flowers, artificial mountains, rock sculptures and lots of water.! After the visit to the garden you can spend about an hour or so shopping at the Bazaar!
