Sometimes during the dark, cold and long prairie winter months, summer feels more like a state of mind than an eventual season. Did those hot summer days filled with lemonade and potato salad really happen?  Did we really go outside in flip flops and sleeveless dresses?  It’s seemed like summer was a place that existed somewhere else, and not in my own backyard under the pile up of snow.  But wait and it will happen, that inevitable day comes around again and we can enjoy outside spaces and places once more.

Over time we have created our summer getaway, just on the other side of our back door.  It’s my place to go for time alone with morning coffee when its just me and the birds awake.  Or a place to catch up on reading, emailing or relaxing with a glass of something sparkly under the canopied roof on a hot afternoon.  And if the…
